Positive Psychology, Learning, Creativity and Change Management

Roy Leighton is a polymath: actor, director, author, educator, artist, international speaker and adviser to schools, communities and businesses on values-based education and the management of change.

Roy is the creative director of Undiscovered Country and developed the 'Butterfly Model' self-organising system for managing learning and change that forms the basis of all the Undiscovered Programmes.

He is a certified user of Management Drives, Spiral Dynamics and Change State Indicator profiling tools based on the work of positive psychologist Dr Clare W Graves. He has written a number of books to support change and relationships for individuals, businesses, schools and families based on the ideas and insights of Dr Graves.

He was the founding director of LAMDA Business Performance (LBP) the commercial training arm of The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art that brought forum theatre and a creative approach to transformational leadership into business in the 1990's. He has worked with numerous organisations in the U.K. and abroad combining the rational and structured framework required for the management of change with unique and highly engaging and effective creative techniques.

Roy is a senior associate for the Independent Thinking Ltd (has been for over 25 years) and co-author with this radical group of educators and social reformers on several books on creative learning, leadership and social change.

Roy is at the cutting edge of 21st educational practice. He was the artistic director of International Arts in London and founding member of Lifeblood Theatre company in Northamptonshire.

He is the only English actor to study with the world famous physical theatre director Tadashi Suzuki in his remote theatre and training centre in the mountains of North Japan. He is still working in physical skills training and is an instructor in the martial art of Tai Chi at a Dexterity Dance and Dojo in Northamptonshire.
